SHLB Partners with Connect Michigan for the 2014 Michigan Broadband Conference

Lansing, MI - Connect Michigan is pleased to announce a partnership with the Schools, Health, & Libraries Broadband (SHLB) Coalition for the 2014 Michigan Broadband Conference.

The conference, to be held on October 29, 2014, at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Lansing, will bring together community leaders from education, libraries, economic development, local government, healthcare, and technology sectors to share and learn best practices for expanding broadband access, adoption, and use throughout the Great Lakes State and region.

“We are excited to partner with the SHLB Coalition for this year’s event,” said Eric Frederick, executive director of Connect Michigan. “The SHLB Coalition will bring a national perspective and best practices to the conference, providing attendees with even more advanced knowledge for moving Michigan to the forefront of the digital economy.

High-capacity broadband is the key infrastructure that K-12 schools, universities and colleges, libraries, hospitals, clinics and other health care providers need to provide 21st century education, information and health services.”

“Our partnership with Connect Michigan reflects our commitment to work with state and local leaders to spur broadband deployment for anchor institutions,” said John Windhausen, executive director of the SHLB Coalition. “The Coalition is dedicated to ensuring that all libraries, healthcare providers, schools, and other anchor institutions have open, affordable, high-capacity broadband connections.”

Some of the topics that will be covered at this year’s conference include leveraging technology for economic development, rural infrastructure, women in technology, broadband for libraries and schools, technology for tourism and small businesses, and Internet access for an aging population.

Sponsorship opportunities for the conference are still available and can be found here. For more information and to register, visit the conference website at
