For many people, the Internet is a place of endless opportunity. It isn’t limited by time or space, and it isn’t hard to come across—just look at the smart phone sitting next to you, or the laptop you’re reading this on. But for some, accessing the Internet isn’t that easy, and it isn’t always unlimited.

Proposed Learning Center and Technology Hub to Bring New Opportunities to Rural Ohio

Local schools, colleges, workforce development programs, and community members are coming together in Ohio's Appalachian region to build up a historic Midwest town. The Somerset Learning Center and Technology Hub seeks to bring new job opportunities, learning activities, and social enrichment to Somerset, a small, economically disadvantaged Ohio village united by a strong sense of community.

Completely Disconnected

I decided to dedicate myself to Connect Ohio’s Day of Disconnect challenge, turning off my phone and unplugging my Wi-Fi router for complete compliance. I got ready for what I hoped would be a productive day, away from Facebook time sucks and YouTube distractions.

Expanding Education Online, Safely

Online learning has become a larger component of traditional classrooms, including electronic textbooks used on personal computers, online videos supplementing lectures, or online tests and assignments replacing take-home work. In many cases, online, virtual classrooms have replaced desks and chairs altogether. Schools across the nation and around the world are creating virtual classrooms and other private programs are giving kids and parents alternatives to brick-and-mortar schools.

Connect Ohio releases its 2015 Second Quarter Results – Check them out!

Under this agreement, Connect Ohio also provides comprehensive quarterly reports that quantify how we have advanced our mission to expand broadband access, adoption, and use throughout Ohio.
