Video: Michigan Goes High-Tech To Fight The Snow Storm

By Wil Payton

The recent winter storm has had a brutal impact in several states. Michigan’s Department of Transportation (MDOT) is deploying technology in snow plows to combat the ice and snow on the nearly 10,000 miles of state roads.

Below is an excerpt from a article on the issue:

Steven Cook, project coordinator at MDOT, said, "Prior to this technology, we were somewhat in the dark. We had to kind of guess where we needed to be.

Data is combined with computer weather models and relayed back to maintenance garages. The information is then displayed in each vehicle so that supervisors and drivers have a near real-time snapshot of every mile of road the trucks have traveled.
