SpeedConnect makes big investment in Thumb

UPPER THUMB — SpeedConnect officials announced Wednesday the company will be making a significant broadband investment in the Thumb.

“We are about to turn on a 4G network, which will be the first in the region to offer full broadband with very high speed connections,” President and CEO John Ogren told the Tribune.

SpeedConnect’s 4G service will provide up to 7 Megabits per second (download speed) by 1 megabit per second (upload speed).

“It’s an extremely market-competitive broadband offering compared to the other wireless competitors that we have in the Thumb,” said Vice President and CEO Bruce Moore. “ ... It’s more than doubling the download speed and almost tripling the upstream. So it’s going to be a much more robust connection.”

SpeedConnect’s new 4G network will provide a comprehensive and secure all-IP based fixed and mobile broadband solution for home and business broadband connections.
