National Digital Literacy Day

By CMI Staff

Today is National Digital Literacy Day and we’re excited to be joining others in celebrating the progress being made to foster broadband adoption and Internet training in communities across the United States. But more work needs to be done. Millions of Americans are not online because they lack the skills and training. In fact, 15% of non-adopters say that they would subscribe to broadband if they had the skills to use the Internet.

“Celebrating National Digital Literacy Day is a great way to highlight the importance of broadband adoption,” said Connect Minnesota Program Manager Bill Hoffman.  “Efforts to assist non-adopters in developing a technology comfort level are essential for spurring economic vitality and leveraging intellectual capital in Minnesota.”

We're joining with other organizations to help Americans get online. Today is serving as the official kick-off for the “Everyone On” campaign. The campaign seeks to provide all Americans access to free digital literacy training, both online and in libraries. The campaign is being hosted by Connect 2 Compete and the National Ad Council.

You can help us!

  • Tell others that you support efforts to get all Americans online. Follow Everyone On
on Facebook and Twitter spread the word using #EveryoneOn.
  • If you know someone who needs training sign them up for our free Every Community Online training curriculum here.

Libraries:

  • Promote your computer & Internet training classes. The National Ad Council is providing libraries with free resources to help spread the word: http://everyoneon.adcouncil.org/

Thank you for joining us in this important effort!
