Lynx Network Group to Expand in Kalamazoo

By Wil Payton

Lynx Network Group, a wholesale provider of telecommunication services to businesses, is establishing a home base in Western Michigan University’s Technology and Research Park.

The company's growth is being pushed by its involvement in building a 1,500-mile fiber-optic network across Michigan to provide high-speed Internet service to businesses, schools and governments in rural areas that don't have high-capacity Internet access and the voice and data services it allows.

In an MLive.com article company co-founder Gregg Rutgers talks about the company’s expansion in Kalamazoo:

“Our staff has gone from seven employees to 14 in the last 18 months, plus two part-time contractors,” said Rutgers. “... We've been a 'virtual' company. We've got employees working from home offices throughout the state. Now, the majority of our workforce will either be in the Kalamazoo area or moving to the Kalamazoo area."
