Charlevoix County to become Nation's First "Connected" Community

By CMI Staff

Tomorrow, Charlevoix County will be recognized as the first community nationally to be certified as a “Connected” community!

The Connected Community Engagement Program facilitated by Connect Michigan supports:

  • The building of a comprehensive action plan for a “connected” community

  • Developing regional partnerships

  • Establishing local teams

  • Conducting a thorough community assessment of broadband access, adoption, and use

  • Distinguishing the community as Connected Certified when they excel in technology use

The Charlevoix Broadband Action Plan contains specific recommendations of projects to expand digital literacy, build awareness for the benefits of broadband, assist businesses with websites and social media, and improve the online presence of local governments, among others.

The certification event will take place tomorrow at the Boyne City High School Media Room (1035 Boyne Avenue -- Boyne City, MI 49712) and we're excited to announce that John Quakenbush, Chairman of the Michigan Public Service Commission and Tom Ferree, President of Connected Nation, will be attending.
